Check with the SWCD about projects scheduled for the construction season that may impact a wetland. The draining, excavating and filling of wetlands in Minnesota is regulated by the Wetland Conservation Act (WCA). The SWCD administers WCA for Mahnomen County. The simplest way to establish WCA jurisdiction and if a project qualifies for exemptions or a no loss determination, is to complete a MN Wetland Project Application. Applications are available below or at the SWCD office, located at 200 US Hwy 59, Mahnomen, MN.
