Meet the Humanistic Perspectives Research Group

About the group

The Humanistic Perspectives research group draws together researchers who adopt a variety of humanistic methodologies (e.g. historical, philosophical, literary, anthropological, socio-cultural, narrative analysis, visual and artistic). We are a collegial and productive community which supports members with their communal, and individual, projects. One of the varied ways we achieve this is via our blog.

Our aims are:

1. To advocate the value of humanistic research within wider educational and societal debates.
2. To explore and contribute to the development of humanistic research methodologies in the School of Education.

Projects

Members of the research group are working as individuals and together on a number of projects.

• Remembrance in schools;
• Youth aspirations in the UK and US;
• Humanities in primary education;
• Landscape in children’s literature;
• Class and ability and political parties in educational policy;
• Peaceful youth’: internationalism and pacifism and young people ;
• Learning with artists and art and design education policy;
• Teacher craft knowledge and cross-phase pedagogy;
• Primary history pedagogy.
