I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Queens College (CUNY) and a member of the Doctoral Faculty of the Computer Science and Linguistics programs at the CUNY Graduate Center. My research area is Natural Language Processing (NLP). I am particularly interested in multilingual and low-resource NLP,  and the applications of NLP in Education and Language Learning. Previously, I was a faculty member in the Computer Science Department at Virginia Tech. Before that, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Computational Learning Systems at Columbia University. I completed my Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I was advised by Prof. Dan Roth.
